Mark Pirro and Psychomatronic Site News
5/27/03
If you're here, then you've probably read my explaination as to why I'm closing shop on this website. However, I have one last update. A LiveJournal page if you want to keep tabs on my life and thoughts. (Big hug for all).

As you can tell, it's been a while since I've updated the site. Well, I've been nursing a cold, working, and generally being lazy. So, I'm going to make a promise that this site will get some sort of update at least once a month. That way, you'll know when to come back and check. Anway, new stuff up: My review of Curse of the Queerwolf is up. As is my 1998 interview with Mark. I've got at least three non-Pirro movie reviews that should be up soon, and I plan on seeing if I can get a new interview with Mark soon. Until then, I'm out. E-mail me if you have any questions, comments, or suggestions.

Yesterday, I received an e-mail from Mark Pirro, telling me that people have been writing to him about my site. In fact, he told me that it comes up at the top of many search engines. This came as a surprise to me, considering the reason I started the page in the first place.
Next to music and film, writing is my greatest passion. Unfortunately, my fire for writing started going out after I graduated college. I started this site hoping that the "writing funk" I've been in would diminish. Slowly, but surely, it has.
I never thought anyone would actually see this site, except for family and friends. It is pretty much an outlet for me, as well as a hobby. To know that people are actually finding out about it and possibly getting something out of it . . . well, that's a pretty awesome feeling. So, to all who have found the site and are liking it, you have my sincere thanks and appreciation.
Mark also told me that I should "get that spell check working." I'm currently going through the site and finding tons of grammatical and spelling mistakes. I'm just picturing the look on my high school English teachers' faces. So, I'm making corrections. The grammar may be less than perfect, especially since I sometimes write in an informal, conversational style, but the spelling should be much better.
I guess that's about it for now. See you soon, everyone.

Well, I didn't get a review of Color-Blinded up. I did, however, get a review of the sincerely fucked up movie Begotten in my non-Pirro review section. I hope to get a review of Queerwolf up soon, as well as my old Mark Pirro interview. After that, I'll try to schedule a new interview with Mark. I guess that's it. Oh, one more thing. Excluding the Gangs of New York and the Lord of the Rings nominations, FUCK THE OSCARS!!!

Yeah, it's been a long damn time. So sue me!!! Besides, I don't think enough people are really reading this to care anyway. Well, I finally got my DVD's of Polish Vampire and Queerwolf. I am one happy son of a bitch. I've watched Polish Vampire and have amended my review of it to include my views on the DVD. Also up in my other reviews section is a new review of the DVD release of Flesh Gordon. Go check it out. This weekend, I plan on getting a review of Color-Blinded up, and possibly my old interview with Mark. I'm also planning on seeing if I can get an interview with Mark sometime in the near future. Well, it's 1:38 a.m. so I have to get going. I'll try to keep updating more regularly. Peace!!!!

It looks like everybody's favorite ultra-low budget filmmaker has an article at Fangoria's website. There may be one in the new issue as well, but for some reason all the stores in my area stopped carrying Fangoria. Looks like I'm finally going to have to break down and subscribe. Anyway, it's about damn time Fangoria gave Mark some respect. Check it out. It's a very good read.

Yeah, it's been a while. I've been doing stuff in real life, but I'm back. First bit of news: My site has now been linked to the official Pirromount site. WOO-HOO!!! Second, my video store didn't get my copies of Polish Vampire and Queerwolf yet. D'OH!!!! But . . . I have done my review for Polish Vampire and you can find it in the newly formed Pirro reviews section. My copy of I Spit on Your Grave: Millennium Edition did come, and I should have a review of it in my other movie review section in a few days. Here's hoping the U.S. mail will get those DVD's in soon.

Great news! This site recently got stamped with the official "Mark Pirro Seal of Approval." Read this e-mail I got from Mark in response to one I sent to him about the site.
Damon,
Pretty ambitious site. I'm flattered that you've taken the time and effort to do it, and equally flattered that our films have made such an impression on you. Thanks. At some point I'll get my webmaster to put a link to it.
Best,
Mark
Is that cool or what?

A Polish Vampire in Burbank and Curse of the Queerwolf are coming to DVD on December 17 from MTI Video. If you don't like ordering off of the 'net, go to your local (preferably independently owned) video store and order a copy. They retail at $19.99 a piece and include director's commentary, documentary featurettes, deleted scenes, and more. This is what the box art will look like for both movies:
I know the box art is kind of goofy, and Mark has said he's not too thrilled with it, but he's happy that his movies are going to get the DVD treatment. So what are you waiting for? Order already!
